The Sydney Forums Sustainable Built Environment Discussions have been reestablished in partnership with the Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council, City of Sydney, Landcom and the NSW Dept. of Environment and Climate Change.
The Sydney Forum 2009 series of sustainable built environment industry discussions are aimed at fostering collaboration, the sharing of information and engagement across the sector to create positive solutions for a sustainable built environment.

Our Urban Future: Adaptation through Innovation and Creativity
Peter Head Director and Leader of Global Planning Business – Arup delivered an abridged version of his ground-breaking Brunel lecture 'Entering an Ecological Age'. Drawing on research produced by Arup for the World EconomicForum, entitled ‘SlimCity’, Peter discussed what it means for cities to meet the twin challenges posed by climate change and the demands on finite resources from an expanding global population.

Mark Conlon, State Coordinator Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation from DECC outlined the issues and opportunities facing the community within the built environment and provided an overview of the activities currently being undertaken by government.

Using ‘SlimCity’ Knowledge Cards Sydney Forum Attendees had an opportunity to engage with the task of how the Built Environment sector can make Sydney a better place to live both for us and for future generations.
