Improving the energy performance of Australian housing through energy efficiency and electrification is necessary for a rapid and equitable transition to a zero-carbon-ready society. People are also struggling with the rising cost of energy and an acute housing affordability crisis, with electrification and home energy efficiency critical parts of the solution.

Equity must be a priority in the energy transition to ensure no-one is left behind, and Governments must ensure those who need it most are supported to benefit from the transition.

This Roadmap sets out what action is required from governments and decision-makers to upgrade Australian homes, and how to co-ordinate and prioritise these actions. It sets out a comprehensive framework, grounded in robust principles, to implement the ambitious, coordinated actions required.
