ASBEC Submission: Proposed design of the Net Zero Fund

17th October 2025

The Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council (ASBEC) welcomes the opportunity to provide feedback on the design of the new Net Zero Fund. ASBEC agrees that funding support will be essential for delivering the Net Zero Plan and enabling major investments by large industrial facilities in decarbonisation and energy efficiency. We also recognise the value of funding to support manufacturing renewable and low emissions technologies for the built environment sector.

Key recommendations focus on:

  • Electrify where possible
  • Supporting manufacturers of construction materials to decarbonise helps reduce built environment embodied carbon emissions
  • Investing in low-carbon material innovation and market enablers
  • Upskilling the built environment supply chain
