15 September 2025

The Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council (ASBEC) welcomes the opportunity to provide feedback on the Productivity Commission’s Interim report, Investing in cheaper, cleaner energy and the net zero transformation. 1. Reducing the cost of meeting emissions targets
    • A need for certainty to accelerate investment in built environment net zero pathways
    • Focus on the significant productivity opportunity to integrate the energy demand and supply side
    • Strong support for developing national target-consistent carbon values
    • Securing a level playing field for Australian manufacturers of building and construction products
  1. Addressing barriers to private investment in adaptation
    • Boosting the built environment’s resilience through better energy performance
